Chris Butler

Chris first went to Folk Camp as a teenager in the sixties. Since then he has been for many years with his own family and has been a musician at summer camps and short break camps. He has played in several bands, most recently Random Jig and Chesapeake as well as for Morris. Chris was company secretary for Folkcamps for several years and served on council.

It has been great to see how Folkcamps has bridged the generations introducing and encouraging folk music in each new generation as well as sustaining us old timers. We have made many good friends and have lots of good memories from our holidays camping in all weathers.

I enjoy a mix of types and styles of music. My folk fiddling is influenced by English, Scottish, Irish, Shetland, American and French Canadian. For the last few years I have been the resident musician for the singers camp where I lead the music in the evenings for dancing, encouraging as many other musicians as possible to join me. I generally provide sheet music for those who need it and we have a great time.
