Folk Camps provides training for volunteer staff, and for members where the specific training provides a benefit to Folk Camps.

Folk Camps Internal Staff Training

Folk Camps has a training path for staff, via staffing roles of Apprentice, Assistant, Joint and Full staff, with Mentors to assist. There is more information on the Staffing Roles and Responsibilities page.

External Training Courses

Folk Camps Society recognises the contribution made by everyone on camp and wishes to help all members, staff and apprentice staff achieve the highest standards of competence.
To this end Folk Camps Society Ltd. will fund all course fees and reasonable out of pocket expenses for members wishing to undertake the following qualifications, provided that the skills gained will be available for the benefit of the Society whilst the member is on camp.

• Basic Food Hygiene Qualifications
• First Aid Qualifications (all levels)
• Health & Safety Qualifications (subject to level)
• Other courses can be considered on their merits

Applications for training courses should include details of the course proposed. They should be in writing either by email or by post to Folk Camps Society Limited, Tor View, Lakenham Hill, Northam, Devon, EX39 1JH.
Details to include in your application include: Course Title, Location, Dates, Duration, Course Fees, Anticipated expenses etc. For ‘other courses’ mentioned above, please also provide a justification of the benefit of the course to Folk Camps.

Approval, or otherwise, will be given in writing. Folk Camps Society Ltd will not accept any liability to pay any amounts unless approved by Folk Camps Council in advance of the course commencing.
