Camp Content 2313

What to expect?

A fully catered week of folk activities based around a marquee. Music, song, dance and crafts. Suitable for all – adults, children, families and singles.

Likely to include lively ceilidh dancing in the evenings, all-inclusive music workshops in the mornings, an opportunity to join the band in the evenings and various other workshops depending on what you and the other campers bring to share.

Musical animation will be shared between Holly Clamp and Bruce Knapp. Fiddler Holly was a founder member of Climax Ceilidh Band and has also played in the European Youth Folk Orchestra. She loves to play for dancing, be it French dance, Swedish dance, Morris or Ceilidh. Guitarist Bruce also plays with Climax Ceilidh Band and has toured the world with the likes of the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain, and pan-European band The Bluesmasters.

The camp runs from Saturday 2 pm until 10 am the following Saturday. Please do not arrive until after 2pm. Check with the warden when you arrive who will advise you where to pitch and tell you when to expect a drink. The leader will arrange a camp meeting in the early evening at which staff will be introduced, safety information given out and workshops planned. It is most important that you and all your party attend the meeting.

Our site for four weeks is Peakhill Farm at Theberton which is north-east of Ipswich.  Contrary to its name, our site at is a nice flat field with pleasant surrounding countryside. Three beaches, Southwold, Aldeburgh, and Dunwich, are just a short drive away.  Southwold, a charming seaside town and home to Adnams Brewery, is well worth a visit as is Aldeburgh town with its rich cultural identity, multiple galleries and sculptures. Within easy reach are RSPB Minsmere, Leiston Abbey and what remains of the lost city of Dunwich, with its little museum. Travelling a little further, twenty miles inland, the 12th century Framlingham Castle has an intriguing history and a spectacular elevated walkway.
