I have been going to Folk Camps since I was about 6 or 7, graduating from weekend village hall camps to week-long summer camps. Each year I would be so excited to see everyone again that we had to keep coming back.

I love practical hands-on jobs and the idea of wardening has been on my mind since many folk camps ago. I mentioned it to some of the existing folk camp staff and now it’s happening!

I am a fiddle player during music workshops and a bagpiper the rest of the time. Although I learnt classical violin, I really love listening to and playing folk music. I was part of the Folk Camps Party Band for a few years where I had so much fun playing for dancers but at Folk Camps you will usually find me on the dance floor for the evening barn dance (the best bit of Folk Camps in my opinion). I play the highland bagpipes in my local pipe band and I am always itching to get my pipes out in the sing-around.

When I am not at Folk Camps, I am at university studying Environmental Conservation so I have a real passion for nature and the outdoors. Folk Camps provides an amazing opportunity to explore so many beautiful landscapes.

For me, Folk Camps is all about immersing yourself in music and fun with a whole community of enthusiastic people around you.
